Exhibition to pique the interest of craft and art lovers

A current School of Creative Arts PhD candidate has teamed up with a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts graduate to mount an exhibition coinciding with Craft Cubed, a major Craft Victoria exhibition in Melbourne next month.

The PhD candidate, Mae Finlayson, and graduate Holly Leonardson will stage Piqued: Collection and Connection at 1000 £ Bend in Little Lonsdale Street on August 12 and 13.

The two artists are collaborating by distance on a body of work that reflects their shared appreciation of the stuff that others no longer want - specifically unfinished craft projects, vintage how-to books and discarded DIY objects.

However their processes and finished works could not be more different - Mae’s approach is messy and quick while Holly prefers to be tidy and careful.
