Following from last year's Student Voice forum, UTAS is pleased to announce the 2013 Students Matter Forum. The Students Matter Forum is an opportunity for students and staff at UTAS to engage in discussion and development of the UTAS student experience. The forum will be of relevance to students and staff who are interested or involved in initiatives that are informing, shaping and leading change in the UTAS student experience.
The Students Matter Forum will be convened annually by the Student Centre and funded by the Student Experience Committee. The Students Matter Forum is a key initiative of the new UTAS Student Experience Plan.
The 2013 Students Matter Forum will be held on Monday 23rd September from 10.00am to 4.00pm at Accommodation Services, 20 College Road, Sandy Bay campus, Hobart.

The Students Matter forum will feature two UTAS graduates who will share examples of how they have engaged with and contributed to enhancing the student experience at UTAS.

At this year's forum, SERRU will also launch a new initiative Students as Change Agents, designed to provide opportunities for students to contribute to improving their university experience, including the learning and teaching, through an action research project.
The program for the 2013 Students Matter Forum is available here: Students Matter Forum program
If you are working with your peers or with staff members on areas of learning and teaching or the broader student experience, or would like to hear what others are doing, the Students Matter Forum is a wonderful opportunity to share, to build networks and to seek feedback.
The forum will be opened by Professor David Sadler (DVC Students and Education), Chair of the Student Experience Committee who is interested in your views. Professor Sadler will be there to welcome students and speak in relation to the student voice at UTAS.
Important dates:
A free bus will be provided to transport students and staff from the Launceston campus.
Support for a selected number of students travelling from the Cradle Coast and Sydney campuses (and including distance students) is available.
Attendance at the forum is free. Representatives will be sought from all campuses including both on campus and distance students.
The Students Matter Forum is a new initiative designed to provide UTAS students with an ongoing opportunity to engage with each other and with staff about their learning experience at UTAS. If you are working with students on change initiatives either within your units or more broadly, or are interested in how you might do this in the future, we would value your involvement at Students Matter.
Outcomes of the forum will be presented back to the UTAS Student Experience Committee for their information and support. A summary of the day will also be placed on the Students Matter 2013 forum website.
The forum is being undertaken with the support of the TUU, student associations and SERRU.
Please contact Rebecca Ridgeway at the Student Centre if you have questions about the forum.
