To assist both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Sculpture studio to develop their ideas by providing support in terms of techniques and materials.
Experience Ian was invited to work as assistant to sculpture Frederic Chepeaux in Sydney in 1983 and was employed by Studio Cirage as silversmith in 1989. He has undertaken three public sculpture commissions as well as a number of private commissions. He also has had four solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group shows since leaving art school. His work has been collected by the National Gallery of Australia, University of Tasmania, the National Gallery of Australia and the Free International University World Art Collection Amsterdam and can be found in private collections in Australia, Hong Kong, the Netherlands and France. Research Interests Munday's main sculptural research centres on found objects and how they can be reconfigured to transcend their original usage, in this way they take on the attributes of "High Art". His body of works explores the use of found material (for 'found' read: discarded) that through various reconfigurations takes on a heightened or changed meaning.
