Pat Brassington is one of Australia's most respected photomedia artists. She has a significant reputation in the field with works held in all leading Australian public and private collections. She has exhibited widely in Australia and overseas for over two decades and curators for inclusion in many prestigious exhibitions have selected works over this period.
A common thread running though much of Pat Brassington’s practice has been an interest in certain Freudian theories, psychoanalytic theory and techniques of deconstruction. In a general sense Surrealist strategies have served as a model for employing sets of personal images and metaphors. The intent has been to find ways to apply universal ideas and concerns about art to personal experience
