In this unit, each student is given the opportunity to present a solo routine and a small group musical theatre extract which is underpinned by the theoretical study of Musical Theatre production, i.e. the broader production contexts of lighting, costuming, auditions/casting, orchestration, timelines and scheduling and other technical structures.
The unit is designed as an introduction to musical theatre as a genre that requires special consideration within the breadth of theatre genres. Students will receive individual tuition and direction in singing and characterisation as well as whole-group tuition in choreography, text analysis and production techniques.
