Plerpleropanner

Aboriginal Life Stories - Clanspeople Encountered

Plerpleropanner

Plerpleroparner had retrieved a bundle of spears he had hidden in the bush and was given the title 'the man that carried the spear' by Robinson (Plomley, 262). He was also later called Big Billy and renamed Alfred by Robinson. Plerpleroparner's country is not known, however he was intimately aware of direction in the northeast country as he was requested by Robinson to show the way from the Anson's River camping place to Mt William on November 2,1830 (Plomly, 264). It is therefore reasonable to suggest that Plerpleroparner was either from the same nation as Mannalargenna or a close neighbour. It is suggested that he was a Leetermairrenner clansman. There is no record of when Plerpleroparner died but he was still alive when the 1836 Wybalenna census was taken in January 1836.
