Review of Teaching Space

A key component of the EDGE agenda is a focus on the student and enhancing the student learning experience. The quality of the teaching and learning environment is a central component for effective teaching and learning for students on campus. With this in mind the University contracted a consultant, Andy Blunden, to undertake a review of the short to medium term needs of its teaching spaces, with a focus on their adequacy, management systems and planning arrangements.

Terms of Reference

The terms of reference for the review were as follows:

To consider and review the management and adequacy of learning and teaching accommodation and make recommendations as necessary.

Specifically to provide advice on:

  1. the adequacy of teaching space and equipment provided on each campus (including number of rooms, size and fit-out).
  2. the quality and efficiency of teaching space, with reference to sector benchmarks as appropriate.
  3. the management of teaching space, including policies and procedures.
  4. changes in use of existing teaching space to meet short and medium term needs.
  5. planning for future provision of teaching space on each campus.
