The aim of this project component is to improve the integration of beef cattle production with cropping systems, thereby improving the profitability of smallholder farmer households. The objectives are to:

  • Establish benchmark information on beef cattle farming systems and address specific knowledge gaps in cattle nutrition of farmers with cattle in Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, and Ninh Thuan Provinces;
  • Develop strategies for improving cattle production, both quality and quantity, through improved management and better utilization of on- and off-farm resources;
  • Evaluate the biophysical and socioeconomic impacts of cattle management interventions on smallholder farms through on-farm participatory research;
  • Address specific knowledge gaps in cattle nutrition
  • Enhance utilization of manure resources in farming systems.
