2017 Forthside Vegetable Research Facility Open Day

Industry and community members are invited to join the The Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture (TIA), as we showcase the innovative research being undertaken to enhance the productivity, profitability and sustainability of agriculture in Tasmania.

TIA's Forthside Vegetable Research Facility (Forthside) is the site of leading-edge agricultural research. Some of the research to be showcased at this event includes:

  • Overview of TIA, Professor Holger Meinke (TIA)
  • Systemic downy mildew in poppies, Dr Jason Scott (TIA)
  • Industrial hemp trials, Dr Tim Smallbon (TIA)
  • Soil health and management for optimum crop yield, Dr Bill Cotching and John McPhee (TIA)

There will also be a number of guest speakers (TBC) with a focus on agriculture innovation and precision technology, including Ryan McMahon from Remote Aviation Australia.

We hope you can join us for what will be a fantastic day with plenty of opportunities for networking and information sharing. This is a free event and catering is provided.

The event will be held on Tuesday, 14 November 2017 from 8:30am - 1:30pm. TIA's Forthside Vegetable Research Facility is located at 124 Forthside Rd, Forthside TAS.
