Biography

Jenny Fleming is Research Professor at the Tasmanian Institute of Law Enforcement Studies at the University of Tasmania. A strong supporter of participatory action research with the emphasis on practitioner involvement, Professor Fleming has worked most recently with ACT Policing as the chief coordinator of an ARC funded linkage project, Policing in the 21 st Century. She sits on several Boards including the Alcohol and other Drugs Council, Crimestoppers Australia, the Australian Crime Prevention Council and has recently been appointed to the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Council in Tasmania. She is currently the academic advisor to the Criminology Research Council at the Australian Institute of Criminology. Her research interests include police management, the policing of alcohol-related activity, police labour relations and organisational change. She has published widely both nationally and internationally in these areas. Her most recent book (with Jen Wood), Fighting Crime Together: the Challenge of Policing and Security Networks was published in October 2006.
