
Board of Directors
TILES receives strategic direction from the Board of Directors. The Board comprises the following members:
- Richard Bingham, Chair, has an extensive background in law enforcement and policing at a national level;
- Mr Jack Johnston, Commissioner of Police, Tasmania or Mr Darren Hine, Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police, Tasmania;
- Prof Daryl Le Grew, Vice-Chancellor, UTAS or Professor Jo Laybourn-Parry, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research), UTAS;
- Professor Jan Pakulski, Dean of Arts, UTAS;
- Professor Aynsley Kellow, Head of School of Government, UTAS;
- Mr Richard McCreadie, retired Commissioner of Police;
- Ms Linda Hornsey, Consultant, Hobart; and
- Ms Joanne Blackburn, First Assistant Secretary, Attorney General’s Department, Criminal Justice Division, ACT.
Management Committee
The Institute's operations are supervised by a Management Committee. The Management Committee was established to formulate the Institute's policies and Strategic Plan, as approved by the Board, and which guide the work of the Institute. It also has a Quality Assurance function in that its members approve all reports prior to submission/publication.
The Management Committee meets at least monthly and in 2008 comprises:
- Director - Associate Professor Roberta Julian;
- Professor (Research) - Professor Jenny Fleming;
- Academic Co-ordinator - Dr Robert Hall, School of Government (appointed by the University);
- Liaison Officer, Academic - Inspector Robert Bonde (appointed by Department of Police and Emergency Management); and
- Liaison Officer, Research - Ms Sandra Lovell (appointed by Department of Police and Emergency Management).
The Management Committee also meets bi-annually with the Board of Directors. The Director provides a report to the Board of Directors at these meetings. |
