Dr Vanessa Goodwin

Research Title:
The Concentration of Offending and Related Social Problems in Tasmanian Families

Biography

Vanessa worked for the DPEM (Hobart), in the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Council Secretariat. She was responsible for designing, implementing, managing and evaluating crime prevention projects, conducting research and developing policy advice. Vanessa was a key player in the development and implementation of the U-Turn program in Tasmania. U-Turn is a diversionary program, primarily for young motor vehicle theft offenders, delivered by Mission Australia under contract to Tasmania Police.

Vanessa has a PhD in Law from the University of Tasmania, a Master of Philosophy (Criminology) from the University of Cambridge, and a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tasmania.

Vanessa has previously been employed as the Associate to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Tasmania, the Public Affairs Officer for the Australian Hotels Association (Tasmanian branch), and the Governor's Research Assistant.
