Critical Thinking Workshop at the Victoria Police Academy

critical thinking workshopAssociate Professor Angela Dwyer was invited to convene a workshop on ‘Critical Thinking’ and how to embed critical thinking skills into curricula and assessment with police recruits and police undertaking studies within promotional pathways. The workshop was ran on 28th October, and discussed what critical thinking is, a critical thinking framework, examples of workshop activities to conduct with students, how it is important to policing, the benefits for the students, and how Victoria Police might apply these ideas in classrooms and assessment.

The workshop was a great success and Victoria Police managers will continue to liaise with Dr Dwyer in their process of integrating these skills into their curricula.

Dr Angela Dwyer is an Associate Professor in Police Studies and Emergency Management, School of Social Sciences, University of Tasmania and is a Senior Researcher with the Tasmanian Institute of Law Enforcement Studies (TILES). In 2016, Associate Professor Dwyer received a Career Development Scholarship to Develop Teaching and Learning Pathways at the University of Tasmania.
