Teaching Partnerships in Police Higher Education: Reflections from Police Studies Academics

“Tertiary education has made some enormous steps to meet the police, and police educators have been extraordinarily willing to come on university grounds, engaging in critical analysis, reflexivity and evidence-based policing. This is how the best in policing research and education comes out.”

Dr Isabelle Bartkowiak-Théron, James Dwyer and Brianna O’Shea reflect on their experiences and the need to keep working on the ongoing challenge of greater engagement in their Opinion: Teaching partnerships in police higher education: An exciting time to reflect, published on Policinginsight.com.

Dr Isabelle Bartkowiak-Théron is a Senior Lecturer and Tasmania Police Recruit Course Coordinator, University of Tasmania. Mr James Dwyer and Miss Brianna O’Shea are Teaching Fellows, Police Studies, University of Tasmania.

TILES is engaged with the School of Social Sciences in a successful collaboration between the University and the Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management (DPFEM) in teaching, especially in the development of the Bachelor of Social Science (Police Studies) degree and programs.
