TILES Participated at the ANZFSS International Symposium in Perth WA

TILES members participated at the Forensic Science without Borders - 24th International Symposium hosted by the Australian and New Zealand Forensic Science Society (ANZFSS) in Perth, Western Australia, 9-13 September.

The Symposium provided participants with an invaluable opportunity to present their research, network with colleagues, share knowledge and develop ideas. The Symposium program included a great range of keynote speakers, plenary sessions, workshops and exhibitors who came to demonstrate the latest technology and management tools applied in Forensic Science around the globe.

TILES presented the following research:

  • Professor Roberta Julian – Crossing Disciplinary Borders and Dismantling Justice Silos to Strengthen the Future of Forensic Science.
  • Dr Loene Howes (Researcher) – Communication of Forensic Science: Review of Recent Research.
  • Dr Kaye Ballantyne (Adjunct Senior Researcher) gave several presentations: Characterising Footwear Examiners Expertise – A Program of Annual Interlaboratory Skills Tests, First Estimates of Footwear Examiner Expertise and Handwriting and Signature Examination Validity – Collated Results of the La Trobe Skill Validation Trials.
  • Peter Woodman (PhD Candidate) – The Use and Impact of Chemical Trace Evidence in the Criminal Justice System: A Survey of Police Investigators.
  • Dr Mithun Rajshekar (Researcher) - The Role of Statistics in Assessing Validity and Reliability of Tools Used in Forensic Odontology.
