TILES Sponsors the 29th Annual ANZSOC Conference in Hobart

ANZSOC 2016 TILES presenterThe 29th Annual Australian and New Zealand Society of Criminology (ANZSOC) conference was held at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, from 29 November to 2 December. The theme of the 2016 conference was ‘Horizon Criminology’, and Her Excellency, Professor the Honourable Kate Warner, AM, Governor of Tasmania was invited to deliver the official opening.

More than 300 delegates from across Australia and New Zealand joined international guests at the conference venue to gain or share their knowledge and experience in criminological research, study and practice.

TILES proudly sponsored this important event, and formed a majority of the committee members for the conference. The Institute’s postgraduate students and researchers chaired, presented and/or participated at the conference’s 50 sessions.

Assoc Prof Roberta Julian, Assoc Prof Angela Dwyer and Dr Jeremy Prichard chaired some of the ANZSOC sessions.

Presenters (PhD Candidates) were: Peter Woodman, Brianna O’Shea and Mithun Rajshekar. Cheryl Brown also participated.

Presenters (Affiliated Researchers) were: Dr Loene Howes, Dr Jeremy Prichard, Dr Katrina Clifford, Dr Nicole Asquith and Dr Romy Winter.

TILES also invited  Prof Claude Roux (UTS), Prof Jenny Fleming (Southampton, UK), Sonja Bitzer and Lionel Grossrieder (Researchers from the University of Lausanne), and Assoc Prof Adrian Cherney (UQ) to present in the sub-plenary sessions. While in Hobart, Assoc Prof Cherney also gave a talk at the Tasmania Police Academy on Tuesday 29th Nov.
