Community consultation for proposed new home for IMAS
Public feedback is being sought over the proposal for PW2 as the site for the IMAS building.
Community consultation will be held in September to discuss the schematic design for the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Science (IMAS) building and seek views from the community.
University of Tasmania Vice-Chancellor Professor Daryl Le Grew said the IMAS building will bring together much of Tasmania’s considerable strengths in marine and Antarctic science into one scientific precinct.
“The building will offer new opportunities for collaborative research which is of local, national and international significance,” Prof. Le Grew said.
The proposed new development at site of the Princes Wharf Shed 2 will be next door to the CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research Laboratories on Hobart’s waterfront, helping create a research hub promoting the importance of Tasmania’s marine and Antarctic environment.
The feedback from the community consultations will be used to refine the concepts for the submission as part of the development application to the Sullivan’s Cove Waterfront Authority.
The two-hour community consultations will be held twice a day on the following dates:
