Adventurer Tim Cope to speak in Hobart

If you missed seeing Tim Cope speak at Open Day at the University of Tasmania’s Cradle Coast campus, now’s your chance to see him in Hobart.

The 2006 Australian Geographic Young Adventurer of the Year rode 10,000 kilometres from Mongolia to Hungary by horseback at just 24-years of age. He could barely ride a horse before he began but had a desire to immerse himself in the free life of Mongolia.

Tim endured temperature extremes from scorching heat in the deserts of Kazakhstan to subzero temperatures in the Carpathian mountain passes – with only his three horses, dog Tigon and the big open sky for company.  Despite the harsh conditions, loneliness, prowling wolves and horse-thieves, Tim encountered a warm hospitality from those he met along the way.

Tim shared his epic tales with a captivated and packed audience at the Burnie Open Day including scenes footage from his documentary, which was Banff Mountain Film Festival People's Choice Award Winner 2011.

Now it is Hobart’s turn with a presentation at the Dechaineux Lecture Theatre, Tasmanian Centre for the Arts on October 8 starting at 7pm.

Tim is also launching his new book On the Trail of Genghis Khan and will be signing books after the presentation.
