Filling the gap in professional services: Medicines Use Reviews (MURs) in rural community pharmacies

This pilot program investigated the potential for a pharmacist to initiate MURs as a professional service into community pharmacy practice. Four rural Tasmanian pharmacies took part in the project and confirmed the feasibility of introducing MURs. They demonstrated a high capacity to identify and resolve drug-related problems, and achieved significant patient and provider satisfaction.

This project was funded by the Department of Health and Ageing via the Pharmacy Guild of Australia Rural Pharmacy Workforce Program Small Projects Scheme.
