Design Aesthetics ZAD122

Introduction

In this unit, you will investigate elements and principles of visual language in art and design, to understand the importance of aesthetics in design and its application to real-world projects. You will also be introduced to the nature of ‘aesthetics,’ including cultural and historical ideals of representation, perception, and style. Colour, pattern, form, shape, texture, space, line and balance are just a few of the many factors you will be exposed to, to understand design aesthetics. You will learn to observe and evaluate how these factors impact on the observed and built environments and be introduced to design aesthetics and its relationship to natural, cultural and social contexts.
