A Heads of Agreement was signed on 18 October setting out the basis on which AMC/UTAS Integration will proceed. The document provides details of operational matters (interim arrangements, academic and administrative structures and systems).

A draft Ordinance has been drafted to support the unification of UTAS and AMC under the University of Tasmania Act.

A Due Diligence process has been finalised by the Joint Project Leader

Development of a Local Area Network (LAN) between UTAS and AMC on the Newnham campus, to enhance communications between the two institutions.

A Business Case has been finalised and accepted by the Commonwealth as the basis for funding support for unification
- Commonwealth funding under Collaborative and Structural Reform (CASR) has been secured to assist with integration.
The Commonwealth Minister for Education, Science & Training, Julie Bishop, is briefed on progress, and is very supportive of the proposal.
A Steering Group, established with Professor Daryl Le Grew, Professor Malek Pourzanjani, and representatives from the Commonwealth Departments of Education Science & Training, and Transport and Regional Services, as well as the Tasmanian Department of Education, held its first meeting in March. The Steering Group will provide advice on legislative matters, funding/infrastructure options and intergovernmental agency issues.
