The University Council is the governing body of the University of Tasmania. A Bill amending the size and composition of the Council has recently been passed by both Houses of Parliament. Once the Bill has received Royal Assent, from 1 January 2013 the Council will include 2 members appointed by the Minister for Education and up to 6 members appointed by the University Council. Council will also include 1 member elected by and from the academic staff of the University and 1 member elected by and from the professional staff of the University. Interested people are invited to nominate.
Professor Jim Reid has been elected unopposed as the academic staff member of UTAS Council, for a 2-year term commencing 1 January 2013.
Mr Corey Peterson has been elected as the professional staff member of UTAS Council, for a 2-year term commencing 1 January 2013.
