The company utilises the expertise of staff from the Tasmanian College of the Arts, professional performers, graduates and invited members of the community.
CentrStage has a key role as an incubator of new theatre, providing an avenue for the development of local actors, writers, directors and artists in associated fields. The company presents seasons of intimate theatre that are lively, diverse, sometimes provocative, but always entertaining and accessible.
As well as providing the community with high quality, affordable theatre, CentrStage plays an active role in enriching the studies of theatre students at the Tasmanian College of the Arts, Inveresk. Whilst the students don't perform on stage in CentrStage productions, they do gain valuable, hands on experience working backstage on CentrStage shows. CentrStage provides students with opportunities to work as stage managers, lighting and sound operators, properties masters, stage mechanics, front of house staff and in many other technical capacities.
Do you believe you have unique and interesting play proposal which has an affinity with CentrStage Theatre's artistic vision? Play proposal submission forms are now available for our 2014 season. Proposals open in May and close August 31.
