Something Nowhere will exhibit a diverse range of sculptural practice within the Academy of the Arts. The exhibition theme will ask artists to interact with the Academy of the Arts building as more than just a display space, but as physical base for the artwork exhibition. Along with the Academy gallery spaces the entire Academy of the Arts building will be utilised as an exhibition space, the ceiling area, discreet corners and crevices and the surrounding grassed lawn. It is envisaged that the exhibition will cover all areas of the contemporary understanding of sculpture with multi media, sound and light and large projections forming a core component of the exhibition.
The Academy Gallery as part of Something Nowhere will facilitate a national focused conference on sculptural artwork. The conference will include delegates from across the nation an invited key-note speaker. The Something Nowhere conference will be aimed to increase the dialogue between artist and academics on three-dimensional creativity. The conference will include a series of refereed seminar lectures and papers.
