ArtsForum is a series of free public lectures held at the Tasmanian College of the Arts (Inveresk). Students and members of the public are welcome to attend. |
Emma Rochester explores feminine interpretations of place. Using her body as a point for entering into carefully selected sites, she unravels sensorial understandings of gendered landscapes. Taking note of her imaginings, musings, natural responses, memory and sensual perception of the land, Rochester designs textiles (fabric) which incorporate these felt and unseen responses to each unique environment. Once this fabric is made she then returns to the site to create highly specific photographic and video works which express ideas of the feminine as allegory for natural environs.
For this ArtsForum Emma Rochester will undertake a review of her professional practice since leaving university as well as discuss the creative research and practice she has been undertaking as part of the AIR experience.
