Sue Jackson is a printmaker with 18 years teaching experience. A move to Tasmania has seen a renewed interest in art practice and a return to post-graduate study.
Her current area of research centers on various hierarchies that have fragmented art practice and influenced aesthetic judgment and taste. She is concerned with negotiating the boundaries that exist between fine art and craft through a revaluation of processes and materials traditionally associated with handcrafts such as sewing, embroidery, knitting, crochet, weaving and lace-making. Jackson enlists a variety of printmaking processes and likes to exploit these techniques to extend printmaking into the three-dimensional areas of sculpture and installation.
Jackson's work is narrative and autobiographical in nature and it is therefore intimately and intrinsically linked to experience and memory.
