University Web Services is responsible for the strategic direction of the UTAS web presence. The University's Web Policy and Web Publishing Guidelines, including the Web Visual Standard, are available on the Web & Learning Services website.
Two components of the University's website home page are managed by the marketing office - the promotional panel, located in the top right hand corner, and the feature dvds, which feed from Channel UTAS.
The following information provides a guide for staff to indicate the sort of suitable material that might be featured in these two areas of the homepage. Further enquiries should be directed to the marketing office.
The UTAS home page acts as a 'virtual billboard' to the world. It is designed to showcase our brand to our many key audiences on a local, national and international level, and to support the positioning and reputation of UTAS as an international university operating out of Tasmania. The promotional panel, located in the top right hand corner, is a feature that was added when the new home page was introduced in June 2010.
The purpose of this promotional panel is to highlight major University events and festivals, as well as to provide time senstive promotion for key activities and campaigns relating to the University's core business of teaching, learning and research.
Staff who identify an appropriate event or activity that might be suitable for the promotional panel should make contact with the marketing office to discuss suitability and development of the imagery.
The feature DVDs on the home page feed through from Channel UTAS. These are selected for suitability and feature on a rotational basis. If you have footage that you believe may be suitable for Channel UTAS and/or the home page, contact the marketing office to discuss suitability and receive further information about the required technical specifications.
The news feature on the home page is maintained by the Media and Communications Unit. News stories can be syndicated across a number of pages on the website. For advice on suitable stories for the home page, contact the media office.
The home page features a list of upcoming UTAS events that may be of interest to external audiences. This listing is maintained through the Events and Protocol Unit. Staff who are hosting or planning an event should direct enquiries to this unit.
