These notes are based on Micosoft Paint 5.1 on PC. Other versions will be similar. These instructions are intended as a basic guide, and do not contain optimised images themselves, as they are designed to be used on campus by UTAS staff.
- Select a reduced area with the 'Select' tool: Select the 'Select' tool (second icon, first row of tools - 1), and drag a square (you will see a dotted line with guides - 2) until image is the size you want. Choose Edit > Copy, then File > New, and paste the reduced image into the new file and save.
- Change by eye with the guides: Reduce the image area by dragging the guides inwards. Save the file.

Paint is available as part of the Lease Machine Image for PC on staff machines and computer labs, and is found in the 'Accessories' in the 'All Programs' menu. It is a very simple package and does not allow reductions in resolution or quality, but can allow you to do the following:
