Dean's Welcome

As Dean of the Faculty of Health Science, I extend a very warm welcome to you and invite you to take some time to explore our challenging and exciting new programs within its four schools -

The Faculty offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in medicine, pharmacy, nursing, midwifery, health sciences and a variety of allied health disciplines.

In an era of rapid change, the study and practices in Health Science careers are constantly evolving to meet new challenges. The Faculty prides itself on being able to meet these challenges, ensuring graduates are accomplished professionals with transferable knowledge and skills.

The Faculty places a high priority on maintaining and strengthening its current areas of excellence and high quality in teaching and research, and its strong emphasis on rural and remote health, in doing so making the most of our unique island state.

The Faculty strives for the highest possible quality in research, and together with the Menzies Research Institute have formed a strong partnership to encourage research development in our state of a national and international standard.

In order to fulfil the Faculty of Health Science's mission for community engagement, there is a strong partnership with the health sector, notably with the Department of Health and Human Services, we have a strategic partnership - The Partners in Health Agreement. Which focuses on particular areas of common interest and commitment including education and workforce, research, communication and knowledge management.
