The Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre strives to raise awareness of dementia, sharing our research about the biological basis of the many diseases that cause dementia, and the health service development projects we carry out. We provide community engagement talks and seminars to increase society's understanding about dementia, helping to reduce the stigma of dementia. If your community group would like to hear about dementia, our research and possible methods of prevention, a talk can easily be arranged for you. Please contact wicking.enquiries@utas.edu.au

2012 iRemember Community Project
This iRemember community project for 2012 is a collaboration between the Wicking Centre and the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, to test the efficacy of iRemember loan cases. The cases contain a rich collection of objects chosen from familiar items from the 1930’s – 70’s with an emphasis on everyday items. Each case is based on a themed collection that trigger memories by using the senses of touch, sight, smell and sound. “In the Kitchen” and “Stepping Out” will take people down memory lane, extending communication and hopefully improving well-being.
