The Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre at the University of Tasmania offers a FREE online, 7 week course, the Understanding Dementia MOOC*.
The course draws upon the expertise of neuroscientists, clinicians and dementia care professionals from within the Wicking Centre and beyond. Understanding Dementia has attracted international acclaim and has benefitted over 140,000 people from more than 180 countries. The Understanding Dementia MOOC is listed in the Top 50 online courses of all time, as well as currently rated the No. 1 Online Health Course by Class Central – a leading aggregate site of over 9,000 online courses.
The Understanding Dementia MOOC is designed to be accessible for everyone – all you need is a unique email address to sign up with, and internet access so that you can log into the course. You are able to log in at whatever time best fits into your schedule, and work through the content without the pressure of exams or assignments. Successfully complete the course and you will be eligible for a free personalised certificate (with additional enhanced certificate options also available).
Whether you know and care for someone who is living with dementia, you are living with the condition yourself, you work in health or aged care, or you would simply like to be a better-informed member of your local community, this course is a great way to enhance your understanding of dementia to improve the quality of life of those affected.
