Co-Directors' Message
We are very pleased to be able to announce that dementia research at the Wicking Centre received a boost in March of a $3 million philanthropic grant from the JO & JR Wicking Trust (managed by ANZ Trustees).
This funding secures the core business of the Wicking Centre for at least the next 5 years, and will allow the expansion of our translational research and education programs in dementia.
Feature Project
Hlep us slove teh pzuzle of demneita.
The Tasmanian Healthy Brain Project is recruiting people aged 50-79 who wish to study at UTAS. Do you want to learn more at a tertiary level and become part of the UTAS community? Healthy Brain participants only need to study one unit per semester and also give 4 hours a year to the Wicking Centre for a cognitive assessment. The project is testing the theory that university education later in life may help build cognitive reserve. To find out more call 1800 982 600.
News
Many thanks to donors who have already kindly given to the iRemember Community Project Appeal. Launched only last month, nearly $2000 has already been raised to support this joint project between the Wicking Centre and the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. This project is centred on people with dementia, examining memory cases full of everyday objects to improve quality of life. Do you wish to donate? Email or call Diana Carter on 03 6226 4881 for more information.
