Leading international expert on dementia to visit the University

Professor John Keady

International dementia researcher Professor John Keady will visit the Faculty of Health's Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre.

Professor of Older People's Mental Health Nursing at the University of Manchester, Professor Keady is chief investigator of the Neighbourhoods and Dementia study, funded in 2014 as a key part of the UK Prime Minister's Challenge on Dementia.

This five-year project aims to better understand what it is like to live with dementia and centres around people, spaces and places, specifically addressing the need to integrate people living with dementia within the research agenda, enhance capacity of communities and develop an evidence base for new models of living.

The study, which brings together universities, care partners, health and social care professionals and policy makers, is considered highly relevant to the growing Australian interest in dementia friendly communities.

Professor Keady will visit the Wicking Centre from 27 June to 1 July.

During this visit, Professor Keady will share his experiences at a public lecture:
