Roy & Clodagh: Living with Dementia

Clodagh Jones is a long time supporter of the Wicking Centre. Clodagh’s husband Roy Harden Jones was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 1999. Throughout Roy’s illness, he and Clodagh participated in several Wicking Centre research projects and interviews about carers’ perspectives on living with dementia. One of these projects was the ‘Development and evaluation of an innovative self care coping program for dementia care givers’ (known as CarersCARE). This project resulted in number of significant research publications, as well as providing information and support, especially around self-care, to dementia care givers.

Following Roy’s diagnosis, he chose writing as a means to chronicle living with dementia, and journalled his thoughts and musings, with Clodagh adding her own insights. Although Roy passed away in 2011, Clodagh has pursued publication of Roy’s words, and the result is a beautiful book – ‘Roy and Clodagh’, now available for purchase (including online) through Fullers Bookshop.

Clodagh has kindly agreed to donate a portion of each sale of ‘Roy and Clodagh’ to the Wicking Centre, to help fund dementia research and education. More information about the book, and online sales, may be found here or by telephoning Fullers Bookshop on +61 3 6234 3800.
