Wicking Centre Dementia Education program has lasting impact on Carmen

2018 Bachelor of Dementia Care, Carmen Comas shares the impact of studying the degree in an open letter to the Wicking Dementia Centre.

“I recently graduated from the Bachelor of Dementia Care in December 2018. My family and I travelled from North Queensland to attend my graduation in Hobart. Achieving a degree at University and finding my passion have been dreams of mine that have become reality. The ceremony, location and atmosphere of the graduation ceremony were superb.

I also enjoyed meeting some of the lecturers and fellow students when we visited the University and we were shown around. We were very impressed with the labs and world-class facilities. Hobart and the UTAS have left an enduring imprint on us and we hope to return in the near future.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to UTAS. I feel my studies in dementia have benefitted my career greatly and I will always remember with great fondness the study colleagues, wonderful tutors, lecturers and staff that helped me complete my University journey. It was an incredible opportunity to achieve this degree under the leadership of very dedicated and knowledgeable staff that went above and beyond their call of duty.

I will wholeheartedly recommend the University of Tasmania Bachelor of Dementia Care degree to all my work colleagues and people who are interested in working to optimise the quality of life of people living with dementia, their families and carers. I believe in UTAS’s vision to help create dementia friendly societies.

Best wishes for your future success and many thanks again.”
