Biography
Hazel is a Nurse Practitioner Aged Care in the integrated team of Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMHS) and Dementia Behaviour and Management Advisory Service (DBMAS) in Southern Tasmania. Hazel is involved in the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre research projects the Nurse-Led Memory Clinic and the Nurse Practitioner IM/NPACT project. Hazel has held a number of clinical positions in aged care and works as a tutor for the University of Tasmania’s Perspectives of Ageing undergraduate nursing unit. Hazel is currently undertaking a Graduate Diploma of Nursing (Mental Health) to expand her scope of practice. Through her own personal interest in music and singing Hazel has been a part of the establishment of a new choir for people living with dementia and their carers with Alzheimer’s Australia Tasmania and OPMHS/DBMAS. She has a strong commitment to support the initial and continual education of nurses working in Aged Care which is integral to our delivery of best practice care.
