Biography
Dr Summers is a registered psychologist and Member of the APS College of Clinical Neuropsychologists. He is a practicing clinical neuropsychologist with 15 years of clinical experience. Dr Summers is a research fellow with the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre and Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Tasmania. Dr Summers currently supervises seven postgraduate research students, conducting research into neuropsychological effects of aging and other topics. Dr Summers has presented results of his at various national and international conferences including:

- College of Clinical Neuropsychologists Annual Conferences (2005, 2007, 2008)
- International Brain Research Organisation Satellite Symposium (2008)
Research Interests
Dr Summers' current research interests are in the area of neuropsychological measurement of age-related cognitive decline. Specifically, his research interests focus on predicting the development of Alzheimer's dementia in adults with mild cognitive impairment; examining the effectiveness of cognitive training programs on preventing cognitive decline in older adults; and in examining the effect of University education in older adults as protective against age-related cognitive decline and risk for dementia.
