Biography
Dr Lawrence has a broad experience of the health system. As well as being a registered nurse, Dr Lawrence also has degrees in physiology, public health and health service management. She worked for 25 years as a clinical nurse, and has been a course coordinator in the graduate medical program at the University of Sydney and a project manager in the Tasmanian Department of Health and Human Services. For her PhD, Dr Lawrence analysed the trajectories of functional decline in a Tasmanian sample of nursing home residents. The outcome of this research will be used to influence future funding and policy models in aged care, especially for those people also living with dementia.
