Best Practice and the Care of Older Persons with Dementia in the Emergency Department: a critical ethnography
In 2010, the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre in conjunction with the Practice Development Unit, Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) Research Foundation was awarded $5 900 to further investigate the care and management of older persons with dementia in the acute care setting.
The research specifically focused on the care of patients with dementia in the RHH Nell Williams Unit, a newly designed four‐bed unit for the specific care of older persons in the emergency department. However, the already heavy workload of ED staffing resources has caused this project to be postponed, to plan a feasible path of engagement and execution of the research.
