Wicking Dementia Research Network
The Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre recognises the need to maintain a clear communication pathway between its translational researchers and the community health care professionals in the field of dementia. University of Tasmania Community Engagement funding for one year was successfully achieved in October 2010 to establish the Wicking Dementia Research Network. This initially involves Southern Tasmanian community and aged care service providers and peak body organisations to initiate debate and create further opportunities around pertinent issues for future dementia research and education.
Face-to-face networking of representatives from all interested community and industry organisations meet on a monthly basis to gather and maintain research currency in Tasmanian dementia health care and research needs and objectives.
The network round table includes community partners:
Tasmanian residential aged care providers;
Alzheimer’s Australia Tasmania;
Department of Health and Human Services Tasmania;
Aged and Community Services Tasmania;
Carers Tasmania;
Advocacy Tasmania (Dementia Advocacy Service);
Australian Association of Gerontology;
Council on The Ageing Tasmania;
Community Based Support South;
Aged Care Assessment Program;
