The objective of this Minimum Standard is to provide a framework for approved staff and students whilst driving University authorised vehicles. The University acknowledges its responsibility to provide safe vehicles and to ensure that they are adequately maintained. Vehicles must be selected and used only for the purposes intended by authorised and competent persons, and in compliance with all Tasmanian road rules, traffic laws and licence conditions.
This Standard provides minimum specifications for University staff, students and visitors driving authorised vehicles. The Standard applies to University approved activities at the Australian workplaces owned, managed or controlled by the University of Tasmania and approved offsite work including collaborative arrangements with other parties. It also provides the requirements that Organisational Units must comply with if they own University vehicles that are not managed centrally by Vehicle Fleet.
