The provision of first aid facilities and the training of First Aid Officers to assist workers who suffer an injury or illness in the workplace is an essential part of WHS management. All staff need to ensure that they are aware of the closest first aid kit and first aid personnel.
The Organisational Unit also needs to provide first aid coverage for those workers who are required to undertake field or remote work which is not easily accessible to emergency medical facilities.
The First Aid in the Workplace Policy can be found on the University website at First Aid (Word 387.5KB) and the procedure for appointing a First Aid Officer is available at First Aid Officer (PDF 51.3KB). Currently the Organisational Unit makes their own arrangements for the provision of first aid training and kits. You can book training online via two well know providers, Australian Red Cross at Redcross training or St John Ambulance at St John.
