Everyone needs literacy. It is essential not only for school-based learning, but also for supporting a successful life outside of school. What it means to 'be literate' has changed dramatically over the past few decades. Being literate in the 21st century involves a broader range of knowledge, skills, processes and behaviours than ever before, due to factors such as globalisation, technological innovation, and social change.
