21 August 2023 Notification of acceptance of oral and poster presentations.

We invite papers from all academic disciplines, industry and community projects. Submissions may link to more than one stream but please submit to the one that relates most closely to your work.

1. Abstracts* for oral and poster presentations are being called for in any area of regional, rural and remote research. A standing focus of the conference is an interest in community partnerships and research impact. Abstracts of up to 300 words are invited to address the conference themes, which are:

  • Technology and Transformation
  • Meaningful transformation requires a deep understanding of emerging technology and the creation of tailored, evidence-based systems and processes. Technology has been utilised to effectively and efficiently support the flow of information, reducing waste and controlling the use of resources.

This stream seeks papers that demonstrate how innovative solutions integrate technology and recent technological advances to enhance interaction and overcome barriers within regional communities.

  • Sustainability
  • Tasmania is leading sustainability developments across industry, disciplines and geographical locations. We welcome papers in this stream that have a regional lens and which focus upon sustainability initiatives. Naturally the UN Sustainable Development Goals may provide an organising framework. Find out more about the Sustainable Development Goals.

  • Partnerships and Community
  • Interdisciplinary collaborations between universities, industry partners and communities in regional areas are key to addressing the complex issues that face contemporary society. Fostering long lasting and fruitful relationships between these groups is essential to ensure that decision-making processes are inclusive and reflect the voices of all partners.

Under this theme we welcome papers that explore inclusive models of engagement, involve collaborative processes and products, community implementation, and investigate the benefits and challenges of collaborating with community and partners.

*Maximum abstract length is 300 words including sub-headings. The word count does not include your title, author names or author affiliations.

2. We encourage researchers, educators, HDR Students and practitioners engaged in regional, rural and remote research to submit abstracts for:

  • 15-minute papers and 5 minutes for questions
  • Posters
  • Lightning presentations (5 minute presentations)

When submitting your abstract could you please indicate your preference for an oral or poster presentation.

3. The Conference Academic Committee will review all submitted abstracts and notify authors whose abstracts are accepted. As there are limited places for oral presentations, some abstracts submitted for oral presentation will be considered for poster presentations. Authors in these cases will be advised and asked to indicate whether they wish to present a poster.

4. Abstracts selected for both oral and poster presentations will be made available online.
