Academic Division

The Academic Division, led by the Provost, has key stewardship roles in academic leadership, supporting the advancement of academic and scholarly life across the University's campuses; leading the institution in embedding the University’s Aboriginal strategy; delivery of a quality student experience; and leadership of the University Library, and regional partnerships. The Academic Division is responsible for leading the drive for academic excellence, supporting the University College and Academic Colleges, Faculties, Institutes and Schools (hereafter collectively referred to as Colleges) in recruiting, retaining and encouraging an outstanding and diverse academic community.

Supporting the University's commitment to investing in and developing the future of our community across Tasmania, the Division oversees campuses in Launceston, Burnie and Sydney, maintaining high quality relationships with key regional stakeholders and ensuring that students on these campuses receive equivalent choice through to completion and a quality student experience irrespective of location.

As the chief academic officer of the University of Tasmania, the Provost supports the Vice-Chancellor and is responsible for overseeing the academic and student activities of the University.

The Provost leads the Academic Division, which includes the University's learning and teaching, quality and standards, student experience, access, diversity and engagement, Library, and Aboriginal Leadership portfolios. Within her broader Provost portfolio, she works extensively with the College's Executive Deans, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), to achieve outstanding academic performance and strategic alignment across the University. She is the overall academic lead for the work being undertaken to transform the University and its campuses in the North, North-West, and South of Tasmania, the Executive sponsor for the University's Equity Committee, and has oversight of Academic Promotions.

The Provost also has a particular focus on academic recruitment, probation, promotion and career performance.

The Provost is the University's Child Safety Champion, sponsoring child safety and well-being within the University community.
