Staying connected with the University of Tasmania’s alumni was the focus of three international events held last month.
The Alumni Relations team started with a reception in Kuala Lumpur on September 26, followed by one held in New York the following day, and finished with a cocktail reception in Singapore on September 28.
University of Tasmania’s Associate Director Alumni and Events Janine Arnold said all three events were a success, with feedback supporting the need to provide networking opportunities for alumni living abroad.
Ms Arnold said the events were aimed at fostering pride and raising the profile and reputation of the university among its alumni.
“All alumni events are important opportunities for alumni to stay connected and feel a part of the University post-graduation,” Ms Arnold said.
“We update alumni on current University developments and have the chance to hear what they’ve been up to in their careers and lives. It’s a great networking environment.”
One alumnus that graduated 20 years ago said they really appreciated the chance to relieve the good old days of University.
“It was wonderful to finally get together with you all from University of Tasmania and fellow alumni, to catch up the stories to know the recent development in Hobart and Launceston and what a great future the University has,” the alumnus stated.
“It was such a wonderful event for us as alumni and we hope this tradition continues. We have beautiful memories of our student life back in Tasmania and for us Hobart and Launceston have a special place in our heart.”
