Over 1500 students were resident at Hytten Hall University College on the Hobart campus between 1959 and 1980. Now Hytten Hall alumni are invited to contribute to a new Hyttite Scholarship.
Hytten Hall was home to many northern students. This was back when the only campus was in Hobart. It was also home to a number of southeast Asian students, many studying under the Colombo Plan.
The Hyttite Scholarship will assist a less advantaged student from outside the Hobart metropolitan area get a start at University.
It will be a perpetual scholarship, awarded to a first year student, providing an annual grant of $5000 for up to four years of undergraduate study.
The Scholarship will be fully administered by the University. Once fully funded there will be no further obligations placed on donors. All donations are tax deductible. The University also has DGR status.
