BOFA Film Festival - a new Asian focus

In 2019 The Breath of Fresh Air Film  Festival, BOFA, previously based principally in Launceston, will be held in both Hobart and Launceston, in Hobart 10-12 May and Launceston 16-19 May.

In an exciting new development the festival will extend its focus to Asia, specifically Indonesia, in a segment entitled 'Stories from Indonesia'.

Included here are international prize-winning films by Indonesian's most famous contemporary director Garin Nugroho and his daughter Karmila Andini, a documentary about three Jakarta street buskers and a film by Vivian Idris about the work of a women's empowerment organisation, PEKKA, in Eastern Indonesia.

Vivian Idris (Film Director) and Ibu Nani Zulminarni (Founder and Director of PEKKA) will be present at the festival and will participate in a Q and A after the film, providing insights into both film making in Indonesia and many aspects of social and cultural life.

A seminar about ASEAN, a group of 10 Southeast Asian counties including Indonesia, hosted by DFAT and open to the public, will be held in conjunction with the festival.
