Undergraduate Certificate in Applied Health

This certificate is suitable for those seeking to begin or accelerate a career in the health, social or community sectors including disability, mental health, aged care and other community services.

Completing this certificate gives you the option to continue into a Diploma of Applied Health and Community Support or an Associate Degree in Applied Health and Community Support. The study you complete under the certificate will provide credit.

Units of study

  • An ATAR of 40 or above completed in the past two years (or equivalent)
  • Completed the Tasmanian Certificate of Education (or equivalent high school qualification) with a minimum of Satisfactory Achievement (SA) in five Level 2 subjects (or higher) OR
  • Completed at least two units (equivalent to 25 UTAS credit points) of Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent) level study or four units (equivalent to 50 UTAS credit points) of Australian Associate Degree (or equivalent) level study OR
  • Completed the UTAS Diploma of University Studies or University Preparation Program (UPP); OR
  • Completed four or more units in the UTAS Diploma of University Studies or UPP with no fail results OR - Completed a Certificate III or higher in a related field of study OR
  • Completed an AQF Diploma or Advanced Diploma (or equivalent) in any field of study OR
  • If you have not completed any of the above, but have relevant work and life experience you can complete a personal competency statement.

Undergraduate Certificate in Creative Arts and Health

Creative arts have a major role to play in addressing challenges of ageing populations and mental health. Gain an understanding of art’s effects on the body and mind, while also honing skills for a range of community and healthcare settings.

This certificate gives you the option to continue into the Diploma of Creative Arts and Health. Each unit you complete will transfer into credit. If you wish to continue further study, this certificate will also give you credit in the Associate Degree in Applied Health and Community Support.

Units of study

  • An ATAR of 50 or above completed in the past two years (or equivalent)
  • Completed at least two units of study (equivalent to 25 UTAS credit points) of a course at Associate Degree level or higher (or an equivalent overseas qualification) OR
  • Completed the UTAS Diploma of University Studies OR
  • Completed the UTAS University Preparation Program, or an equivalent enabling program offered by another Australian university OR
  • Completed Certificate III (or equivalent) in a related field OR
  • Completed Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma (or an equivalent qualification) in any field. - If you have not successfully completed senior secondary, tertiary or TAFE/VET study, but have relevant work and life experience you can complete a personal competency statement.

Graduate Certificate in Digital Health

This Certificate is designed for healthcare professionals who would like to develop their understanding of digital health. You will come away with the skills and knowledge to engage with technology in supporting your own practice.

Units of study

  • Completed course at Bachelor level or above at any Australian higher education provider (or equivalent overseas qualification); OR
  • Partially completed a course at Graduate Certificate level or higher at any Australian higher education provider (or have partially completed an equivalent overseas qualification). Applicants must have completed the equivalent of at least two units of study (equivalent to 25 UTAS credit points). If an applicant has failed any units, the application may be subject to further review before an offer is made.

Undergraduate Certificate in Counselling

This certificate is a great introduction to human behaviour, the impact of chronic health conditions on quality of life, as well as applied counselling. It also provides an important pathway into the postgraduate counselling degrees we have on offer. Completing this certificate gives you the option to continue into our suite of postgraduate counselling offerings including Graduate Certificate in Counselling, Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling for Health Professionals, Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling for Education Professionals.

Units of study

  • Completed secondary education and received an ATAR within past two years OR
  • Previously undertaken study at the Associate Degree level or higher OR
  • Completed the UTAS University Preparation Program (UPP) or an equivalent enabling program delivered by another Australian university OR
  • Completed a Certificate III or higher OR
  • If you have not completed any of the above, but have relevant work and life experience you can complete a personal competency statement.

Graduate Certificate of Counselling for Health Professionals

In the course of their work, health professionals encounter patient distress. Knowing how to support patients as they navigate their health conditions is key to providing whole-of-person care and maximizing health outcomes including quality of life. This certificate will equip students with the knowledge and strategies to support patients navigate issues including loss, grief, and trauma associated with life events including disability, addiction, chronic illness, infertility, and ageing.

Completing this certificate gives you the option to continue into a Graduate Diploma of Counselling. The study you complete under the certificate will provide credit.

Graduate Certificate of Counselling for Education Professionals

Education professionals support the learning and support needs of their students, including those relating to social and emotional life challenges. In these situations, being able to provide appropriate counselling strategies to support student needs is paramount. This course will equip graduates with an understanding of counselling process, with particular emphasis on working with children and adolescent presentations. Consideration is given to developmental issues, attachment, disorders of childhood and adolescence, chronic illness and disability. Strategies for intervention will also be addressed including engaging children in therapy and the therapeutic needs of children and adolescents facing specific problems

Completing this certificate gives you the option to continue into a Graduate Diploma of Counselling. The study you complete under the certificate will provide credit.
