Sydney celebrates graduations

Newsroom

The success and achievements of University of Tasmania students were recently celebrated when Sydney hosted graduations.

Graduands from across the colleges of Health and Medicine; Arts, Law and Education; Business and Economics; Sciences and Engineering; and the University’s Graduate Research attended ceremonies at Sydney’s Recital Hall.

The two ceremonies were the first to be held in Sydney since the pandemic began.

Graduands were joined by family and friends to celebrate the dedication, commitment and hard work employed by students throughout their studies.

As part of ceremonies, the first cohort of the College of Sciences and Engineering students studying in New South Wales, through attaining a Diploma of Engineering Infrastructure (Rail) graduated.

Dr Sharon White ASM was also awarded an honorary degree (Doctor of Medicine honoris causa) in 2020 for the substantial contribution and outstanding service to the University of Tasmania and NSW Ambulance, in paramedic education and clinical practice.

The degree was awarded to Dr White last year, at the cancelled 2020 Sydney graduation round.

Dr White participated as a walk-through graduate, the first ever honorary graduate walk-through.
